What are some of the best stories to read aloud?
I can’t imagine not having great books and stories to share with my class. My 2nd graders LOVE when I read to them each day. They have come to cherish stories that touch their heart, make them laugh, or inspire them.
What books are your class favorites? Here are a couple of mine:
The Royal Bee by Frances and Ginger Park is a touching story about a poor Korean boy who longs to attend school.
Determined to change his future, he listens each day through the rice paper walls of a prestigious school on the other side of the woods.
This story will have your students amazed and inspired while rooting for Song Ho to follow his dreams.
The power of words and their impact on the lives of others is the clear message of the book titled, Mr. Peabody’s Apples. At first, I was skeptical that Madonna would write a wholesome book appropriate to read to my youngsters. However I was pleasantly surprised.
This story has engaging illustrations to accompany it’s important message about spreading rumors. You can launch many great discussions during your class meetings using this as a mentor text.
What are some of your favorite heartfelt stories? I’d love to hear from you! Please share your thoughts.
